Ogre is an open source
real-time 3D graphics engine which has gained considerable respect since its creation in 2001 for being a powerful, flexible and reliable
3D graphics component for people to use in their applications.
Torus Knot's MD Steve Streeting created Ogre in 2001, and in 2004 TKS was set up both to handle the commercial opportunites that were arising with increasing frequency, to provide financial backing to the Ogre project where necessary, and to provide an official 'corporate face' for Ogre, adding to the confidence levels of companies considering investing in products using Ogre.
Torus Knot Software continues to provide commercial products and services associated with Ogre to this day, as well as contributing to the ongoing development of the core open source project.
